Alyce Kliese - Partner

Areas of Expertise



Alyce started her career as an engineer in local government, initially she was based at Penrith Council as an engineer dealing with assets, road network services and civil design, she then moved to Camden Council where she had responsibility for development and subdivisions.  During this time Alyce was studying law and upon admission as a solicitor she commenced her law career with King and Wood Mallesons.   She joined Shaw Reynolds Lawyers in early 2018 as Senior Solicitor and was made Partner in July 2021.   She is a University of New South Wales Teaching Fellow – Law Faculty and has held this role since March 2017.

With her engineering background and experience as a Solicitor, Alyce brings a valuable perspective to the administrative, local government, planning and environmental law sectors. Her work at King & Wood Mallesons in the Environment and Planning, Projects and Construction, Banking and Finance, and Private Equity teams provided insight to a range of sectors and experience in large scale complex projects. In her role as Land Development Engineer for the Camden Council – Development team, Alyce was responsible for assessing and recommending decisions on Development Applications, Construction Certificates, Subdivision Certificates, Strata Certificates and Roads Act consents. She also performed as a Principal Certifying Authority for constructions projects including earthworks and civil works. In her capacity as a civil engineer, Alyce has represented Council as an expert advisor at proceedings before the Land and Environment Court.  

Alyce is a member of the Planning Committee for the Property Council of Australia and is the Chair of the Policy Implementation Committee. She is also a member of the Planning Committee for the Urban Development Institute of Australia.  In these roles she contributes to policy submissions and policy development in New South Wales.
