Profile: 10 questions in 10 minutes with Alyce Kliese

IN OUR SECOND INTERVIEW WITH OUR PARTNER, ALYCE KLIESE, WE DIG A LITTLE DEEPER.

What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on?

Delegation. One of the trickiest aspects of moving through the ranks of paralegal through to partner is learning about how best to use time to ensure that matters are being dealt with efficiently. Delegation is my focus for 2022!

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why?

Resilience. In my view, resilience is one of the hardest skills to develop because you have to stretch yourself to build it, and this is what makes it so valuable.

What energizes you at work?

The enthusiasm of my team and our teamwork. I love working with a group of bright and happy lawyers who enjoy what they do inside and outside of work.

What’s a work-related accomplishment that you’re really proud of?

Myself and a junior team member recently worked on a challenging transaction which involved a successful negotiation and great outcome for our client. Really proud of our team effort and getting it across the line!

What’s the biggest misconception people have about your position?

There is definitely a persona of a “partner” in a law firm. I like to think that we do things a little differently at Shaw Reynolds.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I did a national bodybuilding competition in 2018 and have my eyes set on a triumphant return in 2023.

What’s one song or artist that you’re embarrassed to admit you like?

I am into gangster rap. I’ll leave it at that!

What’s your favourite way to unwind after a busy day?

Playing with my 2 year old son Luke – he helps to put a big day into perspective.

What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?

Outside in the bush exploring, out with family or friends for breakfast or lunch, and watching sport (go Panthers!)
