Alyce Kliese - Senior Solicitor
Alyce started her career as an engineer in local government, initially she was based at Penrith Council as an engineer dealing with assets, road network services and civil design. Alyce then moved to Camden Council where she had responsibility for development and subdivisions. During this time Alyce was studying law and upon admission as a solicitor she commenced her law career with King & Wood Mallesons. Alyce joined Shaw Reynolds Lawyers in early 2018.
Alyce has acted for local government and private developers with respect to residential development appeals, miscellaneous appeals, and Supreme Court proceedings. Alyce also has extensive expertise in advising on a range of planning and local government issues including development contributions, planning agreements, permissibility of development, powers of Council, Roads Act requirements and the obligations surrounding heritage.
Alyce brings a valuable perspective to the administrative, local government, planning and environmental law sectors. Her work at King & Wood Mallesons in the Environment and Planning, Projects and Construction, Banking and Finance, and Private Equity teams provided insight into a range of sectors and experiences in large scale complex projects.
Alyce is a University of New South Wales Teaching Fellow in the law faculty and has held this role since March 2017. She is a member of the Planning Committee for the Property Council of Australia and is the Chair of the Policy Implementation Committee. Alyce is also a member of the Planning Committee for the Urban Development Institute of Australia. In these roles Alyce contributes to policy submissions and policy development in New South Wales.
